Swedish role
Uhrin has been on a break from the game since 2002 when he led AIK Solna to fifth place in the Allsvenskan and a Swedish Cup final appearance. At the time, the former Czech Republic coach who guided his nation to the final of the 1996 UEFA European Championship, said: "I do not want to coach anymore, at least not right away. I want to stay in soccer, but I do not know in what role as of yet."
Hard work needed
On his arrival in Cyprus, Uhrin was excited about the prospect of a new challenge but still stressed the importance of hard work. "I have been impressed by the rise of football in Cyprus," he said. "No coach can guarantee success at a new club before a ball has been kicked but I am sure the club will prevail with lots of hard work."

Last season, APOEL lost their hold on the league title despite leading the table for most of the campaign. They had to settle for a third-place finish which meant a place in the UEFA Cup, and a qualifying round tie against Irish club Derry City FC.
