Athletic Club have secured the services of talented young forward Iker Muniain for a further three seasons after the 16-year-old agreed terms on a fresh deal with the San Mamés outfit.

League record
Muniain, whose previous contract was due to expire in 2012, burst on to the scene in August when his 72nd-minute strike against BSC Young Boys helped Athletic seal a UEFA Europa League play-offs berth. Less than two months later, the Pamplona-born player became the youngest scorer in Spanish Liga history when he netted against Real Valladolid CF.

Injury setback
An ankle injury picked up at the recent FIFA U-17 World Cup has kept him sidelined in recent weeks, but he was back in the Leones squad for the trip to UD Almería at the weekend. Second in UEFA Europa League Group L, Joaquín Caparrós's men will be looking to secure a place in the round of 32 away to FK Austria Wien on Thursday.
