Liverpool FC's Javier Mascherano will spend his four-match suspension recuperating from a knee injury. He sustained the problem during Saturday's 2-0 loss to Portsmouth FC, when he was also dismissed for the second time this season. A club statement said: "He suffered a medial ligament sprain in his left knee. He is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks." Liverpool meet FC Unirea Urziceni in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 18 and 25 February.
