Club Brugge KV have signed Maxime Lestienne and Daan Van Gijseghem as free agents after R. Excelsior Mouscron withdrew from the Belgian top flight at the end of 2009.
Lifetime fan
Lestienne, a 17-year-old left-winger, penned a two-and-a-half year contract with the Belgian UEFA Europa League hopefuls having impressed for beleaguered Mouscron this season, missing just two league games. "I have chosen the club I have supported since my youth," said the Belgian Under-19 international, adding of his decision not to move abroad: "I do not want to skip steps in my development."
Captain
Central defender Van Gijseghem, 21, meanwhile, has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract. The Belgian U21 international broke into the Mouscron first team aged 17 in 2004/05 and was captain at Le Canonnier this season. Van Gijseghem said: "I've had a good conversation with the coach [Adrie Koster]. He did not give me any guarantees but that is not necessary. I want to fight to prove I am worth it."
