Ferencvárosi TC 4-0 AEL Limassol FC
An early pair of goals from Hungarian international striker Attila Tököli put paid to the challenge of Cyprus side AEL Limassol FC as Ferencvárosi TC took a comfortable first-leg advantage in their UEFA Cup qualifying tie.
They were classic finishes from Tököli as the home team took control with goals in the 10th and 11th minutes to set themselves up nicely for the return game in Cyprus.
With a two-goal deficit Limassol raised their game and contributed more to the midfield contest but Ferencváros were good value for their win, their third and fourth goals also arriving in quick succession in the second half.
In the 54th minute Brazilian midfielder Leonardo sent a free-kick from 21 metres crashing against the bar and international striker Zoltán Gera was on hand to head in. Four minutes later Slovakian Igor Szkukalek took possessionn and ran 40 metres before driving in the fourth.
It was a game of robust challenges and the referee took seven names, three from the home side and four from AEL.
