Eight-goal Hajduk take the honours

GÍ Gøtu 0-8 HNK Hajduk Split (Agg: 0-11) Hajduk in superb form.

GÍ Gøtu 0-8 HNK Hajduk Split (Hajduk win 11-0 on aggregate)
Croatian club HNK Hajduk Split produced an impressive performance to ensure their place in the UEFA Cup first round after claiming victory by an eight-goal margin at GÍ Gøtu of the Faroe Islands.

Erceq hat-trick
Tomislav Erceg scored a hat-trick for Hajduk, who had begun the night three goals to the good after their home leg in the qualifying round tie.

First-half goals
Erceq's first two goals came within four minutes of each other in the opening 15 minutes, and Srdjan Andric made it three for the visitors in the 22nd minute. Andric then scored another on 34 minutes, and Stipe Pletikosa's penalty made it 5-0 to Hajduk in first-half added time.

Domination continues
After Mario Carevic made it six in the opening minute of the second half, the home team were at least able to hold out for over half an hour. However, their resistance ended in the 78th minute when Erceg completed his treble, and Mario Carevic finished the scoring not long before the end to take Hajduk's overall lead to eleven.
