FC København 0-0 Djurgårdens IF FF
FC København and Djurgårdens IF FF had to settle for a goalless draw as the Scandinavian rivals clashed in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
The home side had the better of the opening stages of tonight's first leg, mainly thanks to brilliant displays put on by wingers Thomas Röll-Larsen and Christian Lönstrup who kept the Swedish visitors penned inside their own half.
Röll-Larsen was also the instigator as København created the first chance of the half as his shot rebounded off the post into the path of Sibusiso Zuma who blasted the ball over with the goal at his mercy.
However, Djurgården ground their way back into the match thanks to their physical presence and nearly grabbed an unexpected lead after 16 minutes when a strong shot from Kim Källström was just tipped over the bar by Danish goalkeeper Rune Pedersen.
Källström hits the post
Källström then found himself in the thick of the action around the half-hour mark when he finished off a superb counterattack with a stinging drive that rattled off the post to safety.
Henrikssen to the rescue
The hosts began the second half like they had started the first, dominating possession but unable to capitalise despite creating a host of chances. Urmas Rooba twice had the chance to put the hosts ahead but defender Richard Henriksson twice came to the rescue with superb sliding tackles as the visitors held on.
