Dimitrios Papadopoulos scored a hat-trick as Panathinaikos FC comfortably sealed their passage into the group stage of the UEFA Cup for the second consecutive season with a 3-0 victory over FC Artmedia Petržalka.
Tie clincher
Leading 2-1 from the first leg in Bratislava a fortnight ago, Panathinaikos virtually put the tie out of the Slovakian side's reach on 44 minutes when Papadopoulos converted a penalty after Peter Burak had been shown a red card for a foul on Dame N’Doye. Papadopoulos was again on target just 60 seconds later, heading in a free-kick from captain Georgios Karagounis. The Greek international completed his first ever hat-trick in European competition, and took his tally to four in the tie, on 73 minutes with his second penalty of the night.
