PFC CSKA Moskva became the first side to book their place in the UEFA Cup Round of 32, surviving a late scare to overcome Poland's KKS Lech Poznań in Moscow.

Third victory
First-half goals from Alan Dzagoev and Yuri Zhirkov had put Valeri Gazzaev's team firmly in control at the Luzhniki Stadium, but a free-kick from Semir Stilić after half-time gave Franciszek Smuda's men hope. Ultimately, though, they were unable to deny the 2008 Russian Premier-Liga runners-up a third successive Group H victory.

Early chance
CSKA took the game by the throat from the kick-off, with Dzagoev's corner inside the first minute being headed over the bar by Aleksei Berezutski. Jakub Wilk carved out a chance for the visitors on 15 minutes, but his shot drifted wide of Igor Akinfeev's left-hand post. Then, at the other end, Ivan Turina did well to push Sergei Ignashevich's long-range strike wide.

Dzagoev opener
The deadlock was broken just after the half-hour mark with highly-rated 18-year-old Dzagoev scoring his third group-stage goal, following his double in CSKA's 3-0 opening-night win against RC Deportivo La Coruña. Vágner Love's ball picked the midfielder out on the edge of the area and he slotted past Turina. Manuel Arboleda passed up a great opportunity to level moments later.

Lech rally
In first-half stoppage time, however, Zhirkov made it 2-0, connecting with Anton Grigoriev's ball to volley home from close range. At that point, it seemed like it was all over for Lech, but Stilić's well-struck set-piece outfoxed Akinfeev and 20-year-old forward Robert Lewandowski came close to equalising before CSKA confirmed their progress.
