Nenê praises calm PSG heads at Sevilla

Nenê's goal gave Paris Saint-Germain FC a fine win at Sevilla FC and the Brazilian winger told UEFA.com that after some first-half misses "we had to keep our cool" in the second period.

Paris Saint-Germain FC goalscorer Nenê believes his side are on course for the UEFA Europa League knockout phase after their 1-0 win at Sevilla FC – but they still have work to do despite their excellent opening to Group J.

What makes me very happy is that we won in what is a very difficult stadium, against a great team

The Brazilian winger struck with 15 minutes left at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, maintaining a fine record having previously scored against Sevilla for Deportivo Alavés and RC Celta de Vigo during a five-year spell in Spain. But it is the future he is looking to. "The most important thing now is to make sure we get through the first phase of this tournament. From there we can begin to look ahead," Nenê told UEFA.com.

His main frustration was that PSG did not win by a bigger margin. "We probably should have scored on a few occasions in the first half but we knew we had to keep our cool and made sure we took our chance after the break," the 29-year-old said.

Yet Nenê, a summer signing from AS Monaco FC, was delighted. "What makes me very happy is that we won in what is a very difficult stadium, against a great team," he said. "We knew our opponents' quality so we had to make sure we were switched on at all times, especially at the back. Then it was just a case of scoring when the opportunity came our way."

PSG will look to consolidate their start to Group J when they welcome FC Karpaty Lviv on 30 September. Sevilla visit BV Borussia Dortmund for a game defender Alexis feels the two-time UEFA Cup winners must win.

"We know we can't commit any errors in the next match," the recent recruit from Valencia CF said. "We gave our all tonight and put on a good first-half showing but PSG dominated the midfield after the break and managed to get at us more easily. The next game will be massive but we'll go into it with heads held high."
