Something has to give as PSV host Legia

Something has to give as PSV Eindhoven, who have won all six previous encounters against Polish clubs, face a Legia Warszawa side unbeaten in eight European matches.

PSV Eindhoven's home record against Polish opponents makes daunting reading for Legia Warszawa as they take on the Dutch side in their opening UEFA Europa League Group C game.

Previous meetings
• The sides are meeting for the first time in Europe.

• PSV have won all six of their previous games against Polish clubs, and have yet to concede in three fixtures at home against Ekstraklasa opposition, recording 3-0, 4-0 and 1-0 wins.

• Feyenoord denied Legia a place in the 1969/70 European Champion Clubs' Cup final, beating them 2-0 in Rotterdam following a 0-0 draw in Warsaw. Legia only reached one further semi-final, losing out to Manchester United FC in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

• In Legia's only other tie against Dutch opponents, they beat FC Utrecht 7-2 on aggregate in a 2002/03 UEFA Cup first round tie.

Match background
• PSV have gone 14 games unbeaten at home (ten wins and four draws) since a 3-1 UEFA Champions League group stage loss to Liverpool FC on 9 December 2008. All of those results have come under current coach Fred Rutten, who is yet to lose a continental home fixture while in charge at the club.

• They are also 14 games unbeaten (again, ten wins and four draws) since their last UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League home loss, 2-0 to ACF Fiorentina in the 2007/08 quarter-finals, on 10 April 2008.

• Legia have gone eight European games unbeaten (four wins, four draws, over three years) since a 2-0 loss at FC Moskva in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round on 28 August 2008. They have won three of their four games on the road since then.

Team facts
• PSV have a Polish goalkeeper, Przemysław Tytoń, with the 24-year-old having joined the club from Eredivisie rivals Roda JC in the summer. The former Górnik Łęczna custodian has yet to make his European debut for the club.

• Another Pole, midfielder Tomasz Iwan, won two league titles with PSV while playing for the club from 1997 to 2001.

• PSV's Brazilian defender Marcelo joined the club from Wisła Kraków in 2010. He won the league title with the club in his first season in Poland, scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory against Legia in May 2009. It was a result that effectively secured the championship for the club. In total, he scored ten times in 49 league games for Wisła.

• Marcelo's coach at Wisła was Maciej Skorża, who is now in charge at Legia, the club where he took his first steps in management as a youth coach after a brief playing career as a defender.

• Skorża faced Dutch opposition in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup group stage while in charge at Amica Wronki; his side lost 3-1 at home against AZ Alkmaar. Amica bowed out without picking up a point, and Skorża is yet to pick up a point in a UEFA group stage game.
