The Paris Saint-Germain FC players were unanimous in their belief that Antoine Kombouaré's new-look team is beginning to find its feet after their comfortable 3-1 Group F win over FC Salzburg. Jérémy Menez – whose 67th-minute goal helped the French side to a sixth consecutive victory in all competitions – summed up the mood when warning that there would be more to come.
Jérémy Menez, PSG forward
We've improved since the start of the season. I came here to play my natural game and help PSG win.
We've won matches recently without playing brilliantly, but the performance was better tonight. You can't create a great team overnight. We all need to make a lot of effort and work hard together to improve. We are getting stronger with every game. I knew my performances wouldn't be perfect at the start. I know my body and I need matches to get in my best physical condition. But it's getting better.
Blaise Matuidi, PSG midfielder
It was important to kick-start our campaign with a win. We played well. Now we have to show that same spirit in every game and keep on winning. Again, not everything was perfect tonight, but we are still managing to win matches. The run of victories will come to an end at some point, but the important thing is that we keep on going out on the pitch in the same frame of mind, looking to win.
Zoumana Camara, PSG defender
The fans are enjoying it because we have some excellent, technical players. When you start a game with Javier Pastore, Mathieu Bodmer, Jérémy Menez and Nenê – players who always want the ball and play beautiful football – you know things will happen. So long as they play with discipline, everyone is happy. We want to go as far as possible in this competition. We've reached the quarter-finals and the last 16 with smaller squads than the one we have now. So we want to do at least as well, if not better this season.
Stefan Maierhofer, Salzburg forward
We played well for the first 30 to 35 minutes. We produced a lot of crosses and created some chances.
If we'd scored first, it might have been different. But once PSG got the first goal it became hard for us. Then they scored a second just before half-time and then it was really tough. They are a great team with great players.
When you spend your time running and running after the ball and you never see it, it's definitely hard. We knew we'd have six difficult games. There are five 'finals' left for us now. We play at home against a strong team [ŠK Slovan Bratislava] next and we will try to get three points.
