Twente meet Wisła as Dutch coaches face off

FC Twente host Wisła Kraków as two Dutch coaches go head-to-head with the home side striving to maintain their impressive European home record in UEFA Europa League Group K.

Co Adriaanse will come up against another Dutch coach, Robert Maaskant, as FC Twente take on Wisła Kraków in UEFA Europa League Group K.

Previous meetings
• The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition.

• In Twente's only previous meeting with Polish opponents, they won 2-1 away and 2-0 at home against KSP Polonia Warszawa in the 2001/02 UEFA Cup first round.

• Wisła's five games against Dutch sides have ended W3 D0 L2 (W1 D0 L2 in the Netherlands). They have scored at least once in their last four meetings with Eredivisie opposition.

Match background
• Twente have lost only one of their last nine European home games (3-1 to Villarreal CF in last season's UEFA Europa League quarter-finals), recording three wins and five draws in the process.

• Wisła have won two of their three away games this season, but they lost their only two UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage away games, in the 2006/07 competition.

• Wisła's 3-1 loss to Odense BK on matchday one matched their worst ever results at home in UEFA club competition; they have now lost three UEFA home games by two-goal margins, two of them in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Team facts
• Wisła's next goal will be their 100th in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League; this is their 58th game in the two competitions.

• Twente and Wisła both have Dutch coaches.

• Now 64, Twente boss Adriaanse spent the bulk of his playing career as a defender for FC Utrecht. Notable coaching achievements include taking Willem II into the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League, winning a Portuguese double with FC Porto in 2005/6 and leading FC Salzburg to the 2008/09 Austrian crown.

• Wisła boss Maaskant was a midfielder, who earned acclaim coaching RBC Roosendaal, Willem and NAC Breda before winning the title with Wisła in 2010/11, his first season in Poland.

• The coaches last met in 2004/05 when Adriaanse's AZ beat Maaskant's Willem 3-1 home and away. Denny Landzaat – now at Twente – represented AZ in those games, scoring in the first.

• Adriaanse's AZ, featuring Landzaat, met KS Amica Wronki in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup group stage, winning 3-1 in Poland.

• Wisła defender Michael Lamey played under Adriaanse at AZ in 2003 while on loan from PSV.

• Wisła defender Kew Jaliens played for Adriaanse at both Willem (1999/2000) and AZ (2004/05).
