• Born in Venezuela, Jeffrén Suárez Bermúdez began his career in the youth team at CD Tenerife but was soon scouted by Barcelona, whom he joined in 2004/05.
• Enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign in 2009/10 – in which he occasionally played at right-back − with 12 Liga appearances (two goals) and a substitute outing in the FIFA Club World Cup final victory against Club Estudiantes LP (2-1).
• Struck the final goal in Barcelona's memorable 5-0 home win against Real Madrid CF on 29 November 2010, two minutes after his introduction.
• Scored once − in extra time of the semi-final against Belarus − as Spain lifted the 2011 European U21 Championship in Denmark.
• After three goals in 22 Liga outings for Barcelona he joined Sporting in August 2011 on a five-year deal.
