PSV's proud record facing Napoli threat

SSC Napoli will provide a stiff examination of PSV Eindhoven's impressive 20-game unbeaten streak on home soil in European games when the UEFA Europa League Group F pair meet.

PSV Eindhoven are unbeaten in 20 European home games, but they have a tough task if they are to deny a buoyant SSC Napoli side in UEFA Europa League Group F.

Previous meetings
• The clubs are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition.

• PSV's record in 20 games against Italian sides is W7 D4 L9 (W6 D1 L3 at home – W1 D3 L6 in Italy). In the most recent of those games, they defeated UC Sampdoria 2-1 in Genoa following a 1-1 draw in the Netherlands in the first of their 2010/11 UEFA Europa League group stage games.

• Napoli's only experience of Dutch opponents came in the group stage of the same competition, where they drew 0-0 with FC Utrecht in Naples and came from 3-1 down to earn a 3-3 draw in the return fixture.

Match background
• PSV are unbeaten in 20 European home games (14 wins and six draws) since a 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC in the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League group stage.

• PSV have competed in the last three UEFA Europa League group stages, reaching the knockout phase each time.

• They have topped their section in all those campaigns and the matchday one loss at FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk was their first in 19 games in this competition.

• The Boeren went into the group stage on the back of a 14-0 aggregate defeat of FK Zeta in the play-offs (5-0 away, 9-0 at home).

• A 2-0 win at Villarreal CF in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage is Napoli's only away success in their last eight European games on the road, which include three draws and four defeats.

• Walter Mazzarri's Italian Cup holders Napoli are back in this group stage for a second time, having made it through to the knockout phase on their debut in 2010/11. They then qualified for last season's UEFA Champions League group stage, and reached the round of 16, where they lost out to eventual winners Chelsea FC.

Team facts
• PSV midfielder Mark van Bommel has recent experience of Italian football, having played for AC Milan last season.

• Dick Advocaat took over for a second spell as PSV coach in the summer, having won a league title and a Dutch Cup in his first spell (1995-98). Once a journeyman midfielder, 'The Little General' has since won two Scottish doubles with Rangers FC, and a league title and a UEFA Cup with FC Zenit St Petersburg as well as coaching the Dutch, South Korean, Belgian and Russian national teams.

• Napoli coach Mazzarri spent most of his playing career as a central defender outside Serie A, and after assisting Renzo Ulivieri as Napoli boss, struck out on his own. He worked his way up the divisions as a coach, before reaching Serie A with AS Livorno Calcio and Reggina Calcio, guiding UC Sampdoria through the 2008/09 UEFA Cup group stage and then taking command at Napoli in October 2009.
