KRC Genk maintained their perfect record in UEFA Europa League Group G by posting a 2-1 victory against FC Thun.

The visitors defended ruggedly throughout but their resistance was shattered ten minutes after the restart when Julien Gorius found the net. The home team consolidated their lead shortly after the hour courtesy of Jelle Vossen, with Josef Martínez's added-time reply proving too little too late.

On the back foot for long stretches, it was Thun who showed the early sparkle, Martínez drawing a fine save from László Köteles after some neat build-up play. In the blink of an eye, though, Benjamin De Ceulaer was then denied by visiting goalkeeper Guillaume Faivre, before Vossen headed wide.

Genk's technical proficiency came to the fore in the second half, Fabien Camus's free-kick falling kindly into the path of Gorius, whose low strike deflected in. Mario Been's team did not have to wait long to rubber-stamp their advantage either, Vossen leaping majestically to turn in Anele Ngongca's centre.

As the clock ticked down, Thomas Buffel and Vossen both spurned decent opportunities, while Christian Schneuwly's firm effort was beaten away by Köteles. Thun midfielder Martínez subsequently made no mistake from close range, but the full-time whistle followed almost immediately after his goal.
