EA Guingamp punished nine-man FC Dynamo Kyiv with a 2-1 success in their UEFA Europa League round of 32 opener, coming from behind to post a narrow advantage ahead of next week's second leg.

A quiet opening gave no forewarning of the bedlam to come later in the half as Claudio Beauvue's low wayward shot was the only threat to either goal before the deadlock was broken. That came in the 19th minute as Serhiy Sydorchuk slipped Artem Kravets into the right of the area and his low cross was clinically tucked away by Miguel Veloso. It was nearly 2-0 when a shot rebounded off defender Christophe Kerbrat and almost ricocheted into the net off the body of Kravets.

Kerbat headed straight at Olexandr Shovkovskiy in the Dynamo goal, while Andriy Yarmolenko forced an acrobatic save out of Jonas Lössl at the other end before a frantic end to the half. The visitors had already lost Jeremain Lens to an early injury before Sydorchuck went down with a game-ending knock, just as Yarmolenko was dismissed for fouling Younousse Sankharé.

Younes Belhanda replaced the injured Sydorchuck, but the substitute's evening lasted just four minutes before his own red card for violent conduct left his side with nine men on the stroke of half-time.

Predictably, the game flowed only one way in the second period, with the visitors manfully holding out until the 72nd minute with limited resources. Their resistance was broken by Beauvue, who crashed a header into the net from Thibault Giresse's whipped cross before Moustapha Diallo headed the home side into a potentially vital lead from a corner three minutes later.
