Sassuolo v Genk background

First place in Group F is the goal for Genk as they travel to Sassuolo, who are aiming to finish their first European campaign on a positive note and claim third position.

Genk are seeking to clinch first place in Group F as they travel to Sassuolo, who are bringing down the curtain on their first European campaign.

• Genk and Athletic both have nine points and are through. Genk have an away goals head-to-head advantage so will finish top if they are level on points with Athletic, who sign off at Rapid Wien.

• Sassuolo and Rapid are locked on five points. The teams drew 1-1 in Austria and 2-2 in Italy, meaning Rapid have the away goals head-to-head edge and will thus come third if the pair end level on points.

Previous meetings
• Genk beat Sassuolo 3-1 in Belgium on matchday two – the Italian side's first defeat in UEFA competition in what was their sixth European game.

• Genk's only previous matches against Serie A opposition came in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League group stage, where they lost 1-0 at home and drew 0-0 away against Roma.

Form guide
• Sassuolo are yet to lose a European home game; their four outings in Reggio Emilia so far have yielded three 3-0 wins and a 2-2 draw.

• Genk have scored nine goals in their last four European away fixtures, but have lost two of those matches (3-2 at Rapid and 5-3 at Athletic in Group F).

• Sassuolo and Konyaspor are the only clubs in the 2016/17 group stage who are in their debut European season. Neither have made it to the round of 32.

• Their last-32 passage booked on matchday five, Genk have successfully negotiated all three of their UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns.

Links and trivia
• The journey from Genk to Reggio Emilia is around 800km.

• As well as scoring four goals, Genk's Leon Bailey has had more efforts on target than any other player in the group phase (14, four more than Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinić, his nearest rival).

The coaches
• Eusebio Di Francesco's career high as a player was winning the Scudetto with Roma in 2000/01. The 12-times capped midfielder has since worked wonders at Sassuolo, guiding an attack-minded team from Serie B into Europe.

• Genk head coach Peter Maes was appointed in 2015, having guided Lokeren to two Belgian Cup successes. A goalkeeper, the highest-profile campaigns of his playing days were spent as second-choice at Anderlecht.

Chapecoense commemoration
Teams taking part in all of the matchday six UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League fixtures will observe a minute's silence to pay respect to the victims of last week's air disaster involving the Chapecoense team and accompanying delegation.

The Brazilian club lost most of their players and coaching staff in the accident, which occurred in Colombia, where Chapecoense were due to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Nacional.

"European football is united in expressing its deepest sympathy to Chapecoense, the Brazilian Football Confederation [CBF], CONMEBOL and the families of all the victims," said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin. "This tragedy has shaken the world of football, and we would like to send our support to all of those affected by it."
