Marseille have qualification in their hands as they bid to join Group I winners Salzburg in the next round; the French side will go through if they avoid defeat on matchday six.

Marseille have qualification in their hands as they bid to join Group I winners Salzburg in the next round.

The French side will be through to the knockout phase if they avoid defeat; they can still qualify if they lose, but only if the other group fixture between Vitória SC and Konyaspor is drawn.

• The teams' first meeting in UEFA competition came on matchday two, hosts Salzburg winning 1-0 thanks to a 73rd-minute strike from Israeli striker Munas Dabbur.

• Marseille's record in five games against Austrian clubs is W2 D1 L2 (W1 D1 in France).

• Salzburg's record in five matches with French sides is W3 L2. They were triumphant on their last visit to France – 2-0 at Nice in last season's group stage.

The coaches
• Marseille coach since October 2016, Rudi Garcia started out as a midfielder at Lille, returning to lead the club from 2008–13 and masterminding their domestic double triumph in 2010/11. He subsequently spent three seasons in charge of Roma.

• Previously active as youth-team boss, Marco Rose stepped up to the senior Salzburg helm after predecessor Óscar García left in June. A defender with home-town club Leipzig, Hannover and Mainz, he has been on Salzburg's staff since 2013.
