Club Atlético de Madrid's Falcao admitted that scoring a first-half hat-trick to help his side to a Super Cup triumph against Chelsea FC was more than he could have dreamt of, while team-mates Adrián López and Thibaut Courtois were quick to heap praise on the in-form forward.

Courtois, on loan from Chelsea to Atlético for the season, saw Diego Simeone's tactics as key to their 4-1 win, but Blues midfielder Eden Hazard knows his side have to learn from their mistakes if they are to emulate last season's UEFA Champions League success.

Falcao, Atlético forward
I am very happy. It exceeded my expectations, and it is more than I could have dreamed of. I dreamt of winning the Super Cup, and I dreamt of scoring goals, but even so, it exceeded my expectations. Everything went very well and when you achieve a something like this, it is very emotional.

This is one game, one final, one title, but we had to play the match exactly with a lot of intensity and the team showed that on the pitch. We were on our game right from the start. We knew that on paper Chelsea were favourites to win but we managed to play at a high level and win the match.

Thibaut Courtois, Atlético goalkeeper
The team is very happy. Before the game many people thought that Atlético could not beat Chelsea because they are in good form but we have seen again that [Diego] Simeone is a great coach. The tactical plan worked perfectly. Chelsea had one or two chances, but never in the box, and their goal came from a corner.

Up front we have a tiger in Falcao and he is in superb form but all the forwards and midfielders played very well. We played well collectively and if we play like that we can beat any team. To win 4-1 against the winners of the Champions League - and it could have been 6-1 or 7-1 - is fantastic.

Chelsea have a lot of quality, but you could see that if you prepare well and have good tactics then you can stop any team. They have great players, like [Eden] Hazard, [Juan] Mata, [Fernando] Torres and [Frank] Lampard but their whole team is great. With good tactics you can beat anyone, and that is what happened here.

Falcao is a key player for us and we have seen him score three goals in this game which is incredible in a Super Cup final. It is very important that we have won a cup now. It makes the fans happy, and we have another trophy but it does not help us in the sense that we will automatically get a place in the top four in the league. So we will stay calm, and we have to work hard every week but this gives us a lot of confidence.

Adrián López, Atlético forward
We are very happy. We knew it would be a difficult match against a very strong team, and everything went perfectly for us. We started the match very well and managed to score early as well as a second goal very quickly after that. We approached the game with the right attitude and the team took it very seriously which is why we won.

Falcao is a great player. He is very clinical which he proved again as he does in all the big games. We are very proud to have him in our team, and he is also a great person and team-mate. A win gives you confidence, especially to win a trophy against an opponent like Chelsea, the Champions League winners. To beat them is really important, and it motivates the team and the fans. What we have to do is to enjoy this moment, and take this momentum into the league.

Eden Hazard, Chelsea midfielder
We are disappointed because we lost the game. The most important thing is to look forward, see what mistakes we have made, and not repeat them in the next games.

I came to Chelsea for the big games, the big competitions, and to try and win trophies. We have a lot of trophies to play for this year and although we have already missed out on two, there are still a few to go for. We will give it everything. The Champions League is still the ultimate dream and games like the one against Juventus [their opening game in UEFA Champions League Group E] will improve us.

The start of the season has gone really well for me. I have adapted really well to life in England. We have had a good winning streak in the Premier League. I hope it continues like that, for me and for the squad because the most important thing is not me, it is the squad and as long we keep on winning, it is good for our confidence.
