Twelve teams will compete for six remaining places in the UEFA Youth League knockout phase when the eight groups end on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Although ten clubs are assured of places in the 15 December round of 16 draw, with four guaranteed home ties as group winners, the rest of the lineup is to be decided. The fixture list includes four direct meetings between hopefuls, notably holders FC Barcelona hosting Paris Saint-Germain. UEFA.com explains the permutations.

Already qualified: Club Atlético de Madrid, Olympiacos FC, SL Benfica, RSC Anderlecht*, Manchester City FC*, AS Roma, AFC Ajax*, Chelsea FC, FC Schalke 04, FC Shakhtar Donetsk*

*Group winners

In contention: FC Basel 1893, Real Madrid CF, Liverpool FC, FC Zenit, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, AS Monaco FC, Arsenal FC, Galatasaray AŞ, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Porto, Athletic Club

Group A
Olympiacos FC (10pts) v Malmö FF (1) - Tuesday
Juventus (5) v Club Atlético de Madrid (12) - Tuesday

• Atlético and Olympiacos are through. The former will top the group if they match Olympiacos's result.

•  However, a draw or a loss for Atlético, coupled with an Olympiacos victory, would result in the Greek side winning the section.

Highlights: Madrid 4-1 Liverpool

Group B
Liverpool FC (9) v FC Basel 1893 (12) - Tuesday
Real Madrid CF (9) v PFC Ludogorets Razgrad (0) - Tuesday

• Basel will win the group if they avoid defeat by Liverpool.

• If Basel, Liverpool and Madrid all finish on 12 points, Madrid would definitely qualify as they have a positive goal difference in the matches between the three sides. Therefore Madrid are assured progress with a win.

• Liverpool will be through if they defeat Basel by a margin of two goals of more.

• Ludogorets are out.

Group C
AS Monaco FC (6) v FC Zenit (7) - Tuesday
SL Benfica (10) v Bayer 04 Leverkusen (6) - Tuesday

• Benfica have qualified and will seal top spot with a point against Leverkusen.

• Zenit will advance if they beat Monaco. A draw will suffice as long as Leverkusen do not win.

• Zenit's superior head-to-head record against Benfica means they would win the pool if the teams finish level on points.

• Leverkusen need to win and hope Zenit do not.

• Monaco must triumph and hope Leverkusen do not win.

Group D
Galatasaray AŞ (6) v Arsenal FC (9) - Tuesday
Borussia Dortmund (3) v RSC Anderlecht (12) - Wednesday

• Anderlecht have won the group.

• Galatasaray need to defeat Arsenal by a margin that will give them the head-to-head advantage on the English side. Arsenal won the first game 5-1 and if they lose exactly 5-1 the Gunners would still go through on overall goal difference.

• Dortmund are out.

Group E
AS Roma (9) v Manchester City FC (15) - Wednesday
FC Bayern München (3) v PFC CSKA Moskva (3) - Wednesday

• Manchester City have won the group.

• Roma are certain to finish second.

Group F
AFC Ajax (11) v APOEL FC (1) - Tuesday
FC Barcelona (8) v Paris Saint-Germain (7) - Tuesday

• Ajax have won the group.

• Holders Barcelona will qualify if they avoid defeat. Paris need to win.

• APOEL cannot qualify.

Group G
Chelsea FC (12) v Sporting Clube de Portugal (6) - Wednesday
NK Maribor (0) v FC Schalke 04 (12) - Wednesday

• Chelsea and Schalke are through.

• Chelsea will finish top if they end level on points with Schalke due to a superior head-to-head record.

Group H
FC Porto (8) v FC Shakhtar Donetsk (13) - Wednesday
Athletic Club (6) v FC BATE Borisov (1) - Wednesday

• Shakhtar have won the group.

• A draw would secure Porto's place in the last 16.

• Athletic need to win and for Porto to lose in order to qualify.

• BATE are out of contention.
