• Holders Barcelona lost their grip on the trophy in front of a competition record 12,871 fans at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
Real Madrid CF 1-1 FC Porto (Porto win 3-1 on pens)
• It could have been Barcelona-Madrid in the last eight but instead it is Anderlecht-Porto, the Portuguese side progressing courtesy of penalty saves from Gudino.
Manchester City FC 1-1 FC Schalke 04 (City win 3-1 on pens)
• Manchester City also advanced on penaties against last season's semi-finalists, recovering from conceding an added-time equaliser thanks to two stops by Angus Gunn. City are one of two teams to reach a second straight quarter-final alongside Chelsea FC.
