Adi Viveash was effusive with his praise after his Chelsea FC team defeated AS Roma 4-0 to reach the final, saying: "When you see players perform like that it brings warmth to your heart."

Highlights: Chelsea semi-final triumph

Adi Viveash, Chelsea coach
I'm very proud – proud of the players, proud of the staff who have worked very hard to get to this stage. When you see players perform like that it brings warmth to your heart. I feel very proud to work with that calibre of player and to watch them play is wonderful for everyone who works in our academy. They were excellent from minute one to minute 94 and thoroughly deserve their place in the final.

We dominated possession. We like to control the ball and we moved Roma around a lot, which told in the first part of the second half. What we were missing was a bit of tempo – we had loads of the ball but we had to increase the tempo in the last 30 yards – and in the first 15 minutes that's what we did.

We were a bit fortuitous with the first goal, a deflection, but if you don't shoot you don't score, and then Dominic Solanke did what he has done throughout this Youth League season. He's very calm in front of goal, and the second one seemed to knock the stuffing out of Roma. When the third one quickly follows it's obviously a difficult task for them, but we're equally as pleased with the clean sheet. That's six we've had over nine games, we've been very strong defensively, and hopefully that'll continue on Monday [against FC Shakhtar Donetsk].

Dominic Solanke, Chelsea forward
I'm over the moon. We had quite a difficult journey yesterday because our flight was cancelled, so we had to get on with it today. It's amazing to reach the final. It's such a big tournament containing some of the best teams in the world. The level has gone up in the knockout games, but we've stepped things up as well and managed to reach the final. We dominated the first half and they started to tire. We started the second half well and scored some quick goals, which killed off the game.

Tammy Abraham, Chelsea forward
It's a great feeling, not only winning but coming on to score as well. We played together and got the result that we needed. We knew the goal was going to come, and we didn't want to concede first. We spoke in the changing room, we encouraged each other, and took our chances in the second half. I'm buzzing – I can't wait for the final.

Charlie Colkett, Chelsea midfielder
We're delighted with the result and we're into the final, which is where we deserve to be. Roma were a very strong side, as we expected them to be. They defended well as a block and were organised, but we had to be patient and hope the goal would come.

Calabresi proud of Youth League experience

Alberto De Rossi, Roma coach
The match showed what a great team Chelsea are. They have a lot of quality and were superior to us, both physically and technically. Everything was level at half-time even though we were suffering a lot. We then made some mistakes in the second half and strong teams take advantage. We knew about Chelsea's quality, but we have beaten teams of a similar level. We're disappointed not to have fulfilled our dream of making it till the end. It's been a fantastic, unique experience and we'll look back on it with great satisfaction. It's a fantastic competition and it has helped us develop.

Arturo Calabresi, Roma defender
We are certainly not at the level of Chelsea, as you saw today. They were superior to us, but we've reached the level of all the other European teams. Chelsea are the strongest side out there, but, having played against the others, we can say that we were always up there and showed our value. Today we couldn't manage that and so congratulations to them.
