Paris and PSV march into round of 16

Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven, who capitalised on Atlético Madrid's draw against Bayern München, recorded emphatic victories as they surged into the last 16.

  • Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven finish first in Groups A and D respectively
  • Dynamo Kyiv (Group B) and Barcelona (C) had previously booked their last-16 places
  • Basel, Benfica, Manchester City and Atlético Madrid into the play-offs as runners-up
  • Group winners qualify for round of 16
  • Play-off draw takes place at 14:00CET on Monday

State of play
Through to round of 16 as group winners:
Barcelona, CSKA Moskva, Dynamo Kyiv, Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid
Through to play-offs as runners-up:
Atlético Madrid, Basel, Benfica, Manchester City
Assured of a top-two finish: Juventus

Group A
Basel 1-1 Arsenal (Liechti 90+2; Nketiah 80)
Needing to win by a scoreline that was not 1-0, Arsenal could not add to the late lead given them when Edward Nketiah turned in Donyell Malen's downward header. With time running out, Martin Liechti took matters into his own hands and curled a 25-metre shot into the far corner to bring Basel level and punch their ticket to the play-offs at the Gunners' expense.

Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 Ludogorets Razgrad (Ikone 32 62, Essende 74 90; Petrov 34)
Paris made sure of first place with a comprehensive victory over the Group A strugglers, Nanitamo Ikone's first-time volley from Moussa Diaby's centre the pick of the goals.

Highlights: Benfica 2-0 Napoli

Group B
Benfica 2-0 Napoli
(João Félix 47, João Carvalho 75pen)
Requiring a point to lock down second position, Benfica went one better and completed the double over their Italian opponents. João Félix dispatched Lima Ferreira's right-wing cross past Davide Marfella on the half-volley early in the second half. João Carvalho doubled the lead from the spot, three minutes after Napoli's Luigi Liguori had headed against the woodwork.

Dynamo Kyiv 3-1 Beşiktaş (Lednev 39 64, Buletsa 73; Muhammed Öztürk 43)
Bogdan Lednev took his tally to six with a goal in each half, his second a header from captain Bogdan Mykhaylichenko's cross, as section winners Dynamo finished the group stage unbeaten.

Group C
Barcelona 1-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach (Mboula 79; Jahn 22, Simakala 85)
Barcelona's bid to become the third team to win all six matches in a UEFA Youth League group phase, after Chelsea (2013/14) and Manchester City (2014/15), floundered against Gladbach.

Watch Manchester City's comeback against Celtic

Manchester City 3-2 Celtic (Kongolo 50, Sancho 81, Gonzalez 90+3; Johnston 5pen, Archibald 32)
City were already confirmed as runners-up but nonetheless rounded off their group campaign with three points – although they had to come from 2-0 down to do so, substitute Lorenzo Gonzalez getting the winner deep in added time after Paolo Fernandes side-stepped the Celtic defence.

Group D
Bayern München 1-1 Atlético Madrid (Meier 38; Schiappacasse 79)
Nicolás Schiappacasse's equaliser denied Bayern the victory they needed to clinch a top-two finish. Instead it is Atlético who will be in Monday's play-off draw as runners-up behind PSV.

PSV Eindhoven 6-0 Rostov (Fernandes 1, Lammers 12, Daneels 19 25, Gakpo 73 75)
The draw in Germany meant PSV would overtake Atlético, top at the start of play, if they could take care of business against point-less Rostov. They did just that, scoring after only 32 seconds en route to matching their result in the reverse fixture.
