Zoet heroics
Serbia knew a second tournament win after Sunday's victory over Scotland would take them through just as the Netherlands knew a follow-up loss to their defeat by hosts Turkey would end their campaign. But if Serbia dominated after Castillion's goal, the Netherlands held on thanks in no small part to keeper Jeroen Zoet

Lively start
The Netherlands may have trailed Serbia by three points at kick-off but they were on top this evening from the start, Castillion swiftly forcing Vilson Čaković into a save with a close-range angled shot. Serbia's double goalscorer against Scotland, Danijel Aleksić, was nearly found by a Predrag Stevanović cross but Zoet was quickly out to collect.

Castillion strikes
After this the game became mired in something of a stalemate, at least until the 33rd minute. Castillion, criticised by coach Albert Stuivenberg for missed chances against Turkey, cut in from the left to almost the byline and somehow squeezed his shot between Čaković and the near post.

Aleksić effort
Serbia began the second half brightly and Vuk Mitošević's strong effort beat Zoet but also the post. Imad Najah had to make a superb saving tackle on Adem Ljajić, while the orange-booted Aleksić curled in a free-kick that Zoet dived to save. The Netherlands were on the defensive although Castillion did break through the Serbia back line, only to fire wide.

Serbia denied
Marko Obradović was sent on to partner Aleksić as Serbia sought to save the game, and he got his head to a free-kick only for Zoet to again make the stop. Serbia remained on top yet nearly went 2-0 down when Netherlands substitute Lorenzo Ebecilio raced clear but slipped his shot wide, while Zlatko Liščević was agonisingly close at the other end. Serbia's defeat leaves them with a job to do against leaders Turkey on Saturday when the Netherlands face point-less Scotland.
