Gourcuff's U19 memories

A key part of the France side that tasted glory at the 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, Yoann Gourcuff shares his memories of the tournament with UEFA.com.

The UEFA European Under-19 Championship has long been a breeding ground for the stars of the future – rarely more so than in 2005 when France's victorious squad included Hugo Lloris, Abou Diaby, Yohan Cabaye and Yoann Gourcuff, who have all gone on to earn senior honours. Gourcuff, now 25 and with Olympique Lyonnais, won Ligue 1 with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 2009 but, as the midfielder tells UEFA.com, that French U19 success in Belfast will always hold a special place in his heart.
