Bender basks in U19 glory

A champion with Borussia Dortmund, Sven Bender was also a key player as Germany won the 2008 UEFA European Under-19 Championship and he said nobody will forget that success.

The latest in a line of players to have won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and gone on to even better things, Sven Bender was the midfield fulcrum of Borussia Dortmund's 2010/11 Bundesliga-winning team – a similar role to the one he performed for Germany in the Czech Republic in 2008 alongside twin Lars. "We knew from the start we could beat everyone, it was a great experience," he told UEFA.com. "There was a lot of joy in the team, we couldn't wait for every match. We really enjoyed it and you could see that every player wanted to win that trophy. It was just fantastic that it worked out in the end. Nobody will forget it, that's for sure."
