Kvasina: fortune did not favour Austria

Marko Kvasina said Austria "lacked the luck we needed" as they finished third in Group A, bowing out despite the forward's two goals against Ukraine in Veria.

Marko Kvasina's two goals against Ukraine proved in vain as a 2-2 draw meant Austria, like their opponents, failed to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Greece, finishing third in Group A behind France and the hosts. UEFA.com caught up with the Austria Wien forward after the final whistle to hear his views on the way Austria's tournament went.

Kvasina on… the disappointment of being knocked out
We had really high hopes for this tournament and we wanted to give it all we had in this final match. A win would have taken us through, but in the end we just lacked the luck that we needed.

Kvasina on… knowing the score in the other game between France and Greece meant a win would have taken Austria through
We knew that France were winning. The coach told us at half-time that they were 1-0 up and we did all we could in the second half, but unfortunately it just wasn't enough.

Kvasina on… Austria's struggles in the first half against Ukraine
Certainly we were lacking something in the first half, there are no two ways about it. Maybe we were a bit tired from our previous games and there was not the same atmosphere as there was against Greece, for example, and maybe that also got to the players a bit.

Kvasina on… where their fate was decided
We should definitely have got more from our previous games – against France we probably deserved a point, and we certainly could have got three points against Greece. We've only picked up a point tonight and unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Kvasina on… what he has learned from the tournament
It's been a great experience to have taken part in the U19 finals and to be able to measure myself up to some excellent defenders of the same age. That's what I will take out of this.
