France fearful over Flamini flare-up

Mathieu Flamini may play no further role for France after picking up a thigh injury while warming up during France's 3-0 victory against Germany.

Mathieu Flamini may play no further part in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship after picking up a thigh injury while warming up at half-time of France's 3-0 win against Germany.

Recurring injury
The Arsenal FC midfielder, who was on the bench for Thursday's Group A game in Guimaraes, has suffered a recurrence of the injury he sustained against Villarreal CF in the UEFA Champions League semi-final last month. "I've pulled a muscle in the same place again," said the 22-year-old. "It's not as serious as last time but I believe this could be it for me here."

French progress
The versatile Flamini came on for the last half-hour of Les Bleuets' opening victory against hosts Portugal, before dropping to the bench for the success against Germany. Those wins have put France top of the section ahead of Sunday's final group match against Serbia and Montenegro.
