The win was confirmed inside the final 20 minutes as RC Strasbourg defender Bellaid headed in at the near post to take his side on to seven points from their three games . France are next in action at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina on 12 October while Malta, who have lost their first three games, visit Wales five days later.
