One of 11 changes made by Cor Pot to the Netherlands' starting XI, captain Bram Nuytinck remained upbeat after his side's 3-0 defeat by Spain. The Jong Oranje needed only a draw to top Group B and meet Norway in the semi-finals, but will instead come up against Group A winners Italy.
Bram Nuytinck, Netherlands defender
I think Spain have a very good team and, as you saw today, they can play football very well. It was difficult to defend. I think we began well and after their goal we could see them gain confidence and we lost ours. So it was very difficult for us after the goal. As you can see, Spain are a very good team.
What can we learn from the game? I think how your organisation needs to be at 1-0. I think we forgot our orgnanisation when we conceded the first goal. I think we have to learn from that because if it's 1-0, 2-0, you always have to stay organised to make it easy for yourself. We didn't do that so I think that's a very important thing for us in the next game. We have to learn from that.
We played against Italy a few months ago [losing 3-0 at home last August]. They're a very good team, very good players, they can play very good football – a little bit like Spain. It's going to be a hard game, a very difficult game, but I think we will play with other players.
The people who are going to play against Italy are fit and it's going to be a totally different game.
We always have confidence. We played two very good games first. We won the first two games so of course we have confidence. This game was difficult for the people who played but we always have confidence.
