AZ Alkmaar midfielder Markus Henriksen has been called into Norway's squad for next month's UEFA European Under-21 Championship after Alexander Groven was forced to pull out.

Hønefoss BK defender Groven, who did not play in qualifying, has a knee injury. That means a selection for Henriksen, involved in the first four qualifiers in autumn 2011 before his promotion to the senior squad.

Indeed, Henriksen was originally excluded from Tor Ole Skullerud's U21 squad for the finals, to concentrate on Norway's FIFA World Cup qualifier in Albania on 7 June. Instead, Henriksen will join Valon Berisha, Joshua King and Håvard Nordtveit in travelling directly from Albania to Israel, with all four ruled out of the 5 June opener against the hosts but available for selection against England the day after the senior qualifier. Italy are Norway's third Group A opponents.
