Mladen Dodić has been appointed coach of Serbia until the end of the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals in the Czech Republic.

The 45-year-old − whose side will play the hosts, Denmark and Germany in the group stage of the tournament, which runs from 17–30 June – succeeds Radovan Ćurčić. Ćurčić, who led Serbia through qualifying, was last month named as Dick Advocaat's permanent replacement at the helm of the senior national team.

Dodić has top-flight coaching experience in Serbia with FK Napredak, FK Novi Pazar, FK Javor and FK Jagodina, who he guided to a third-place finish in the Super League last season and to the final of the domestic cup, where they were beaten 2-0 by FK Vojvodina.

He said: "This is a great honour for me and the biggest challenge of my coaching career. We'll try to reach the highest level at the EUROs and to claim a place at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro."
