Serritslev plans Italy 'revenge'

The Denmark coach Flemming Serritslev hopes to avenge a painful loss when his side tackle Italy, Ukraine and the Netherlands in Group B.

Claudio Gentile, Italy
It could have been much worse for us but that does not mean we can afford to be complacent and think we have already qualified for the semi-finals. In football we all know that you cannot underestimate any team - who would have thought that Greece would have won [UEFA] EURO 2004™. We are coming up against some teams who do not regularly feature in these final tournaments so they will be really motivated, especially as we are the holders. Portugal staged an excellent championship in 2004 which was successful not only for the football but for the country too.

Flemming Serritslev, Denmark
I don't think it really matters which group you go in as I've seen the seven other teams who are in the finals on video and each of them is very strong. That said, it is nice not to meet the hosts and playing Italy gives us an opportunity to get revenge even though we know it will be very tough as they're a quality side. What this tournament should prove is that football at this level has a bright future in Europe. From our point of view, we're very happy to have qualified as we know that Portugal will be great hosts and a great tournament is in prospect.

Olexiy Mykhaylychenko, Ukraine
It was very important for us to qualify as Ukrainian football is making important strides. With the senior team qualifying for the FIFA World Cup and us reaching these finals for the first time, we can be very proud of our achievements. Portugal is a country which loves football, and hopefully we can help contribute to what should be a feast of football.

Foppe de Haan, Netherlands
I'm very happy we're here as tournaments such as this are excellent for the development of young players. In the Netherlands we have an exciting crop of youngsters who we've seen come through in recent years. Looking at the draw, I agree with what the others have said in that you never know what will happen in football. Since I was appointed we have changed the mentality of the team - it was my aim to get the boys playing at a higher level which would not only benefit us but the clubs as well. We played very well in the FIFA World Youth Championship last year and have to improve on that this summer. We reached the semi-finals of EURO 2004™ here in Portugal and it's great to be back.
