Hopeful of recovery
The midfielder, who this week signed renewed terms with AZ Alkmaar, was forced off at half-time in the semi-final against Les Bleus, with Ramon Zomer coming on in his place. The prognosis initially looked bleak but Dutch coach Foppe de Haan remains hopeful of recovery, saying: "Immediately after the match it did not look good, but this morning it looks a lot better again".
