Blanks shoots Latvia to victory

Latvia 2-1 Luxembourg Kristaps Blanks's second-half strike denies Luxembourg a rare point on their travels.

Latvia came from behind against Luxembourg to pick up three UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 3 points and continue the visitors' winless run in this competition.

Blanks winner
Luxembourg's last U21 Championship victory came in 1985 against Belgium, and 72 games later they had hopes of another - and a first success away from home - when Antons Jemelins scored on 22 minutes. But Jevgenijs Semjonovs levelled 14 minutes later and Kristaps Blanks struck the winner with 20 minutes left.

Russia trip
This result consolidates Latvia's grip on fourth place in the group with their next game a trip to Russia on 4 June. Luxembourg's search for a win continues three days later at home to Slovakia.
