Austria make extra player count

Austria 2-0 Wales Austria gain revenge for Friday's 1-0 defeat in Wales with a win against their ten-man visitors.

Austria gained revenge for a 1-0 defeat in Wales on Friday with a win that severely dents the visitors' hopes of a play-off place.

Welsh miss chance
Another victory for Wales would have taken them up to third, and within a point of second-placed Germany albeit with an extra game played. However, they are now only one point above Austria after a match which they ended with ten men.

Samuel clincher
Roman Kienast gave Austria a ninth-minute lead, and on 57 minutes Craig Morgan was sent off for a foul on Alexander Pöllhuber. With Wales tiring, Jürgen Saumel struck ten minutes from time.

September matches
Both these teams continue their campaign on 2 September - Brian Flynn's Wales entertaining leaders England and Austria travelling to Poland.
