Hamdi the hero for Albania

Kazakhstan 0-1 Albania Salihi Hamdi's late free-kick inflicts more punishment on the home side.

Kazakhstan remain rooted to the bottom of UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 2 after a late goal saw them go down 1-0 to Albania in Almaty.

Hamdi free-kick
Despite dominating much of the early possession, Kazakhstan failed to take advantage and were made to pay for their squandered opportunities three minutes from time when a Salihi Hamdi free-kick found its way through the home side's defensive wall and into the net.

Missed opportunities
Albania proved an increasing threat as the game wore on and Kazakhstan goalkeeper Aleksandr Grigorenko was forced into several fine saves, including a close-range effort from Albanian captain Aleksandr Grigorenko, before the Hamdi winner. Earlier, Aleksandr Grigorenko had missed three chances to put the home side ahead. Kazakhstan have now suffered three straight 1-0 defeats in the competition while Albania climb to fifth in the seven-team group.
