Ukraine claim play-off place

Ukraine 5-0 Albania The home side sauntered to an emphatic win to seal a place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs.

Ukraine completed their Group 2 campaign by sealing a place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs with a sauntering victory against Albania in Zaporizhia.

Early breakthrough
Albania surprisingly held their well-regarded opponents 1-1 in February, but a repeat never looked likely at the Torpedo stadium after FC Metalurh Zaporizhya defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy, playing on his home ground, headed in Adrian Pukanych's corner on four minutes. Ukraine dominated from then on, as Albania struggled to cope, especially from dead-ball situations.

Dominant performance
Another defender, Olexandr Yatsenko, doubled the advantage midway through the first half, taking advantage of confusion following a corner to score with a fine overhead kick. It was 3-0 by the interval with striker Artem Milevskyy latching on to a pin-point ball from Pukanych to slot home his fourth goal of the qualifying campaign.

Fine finish
Milevskyy turned provider shortly after the restart, teeing up Ruslan Fomin to make it 4-0 from close range before Pukanych sealed victory in style just after the hour mark, rifling in a superb 25-metre free-kick. The three points means Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko's side are assured of second place, while Albania remain second from bottom.
