Clinical Denmark see off Lithuania

Lithuania 0-3 Denmark
The visitors kept in touch with Finland atop Group 6 but were forced to work hard in Vilnius before two late goals sealed the points.

Denmark remain in contention for a place at the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship after claiming a 3-0 victory against Lithuania, though they were forced to work for their Group 6 points in Vilnius.

Early breakthrough
Lasse Schöne gave Keld Bordinggaard's men the lead on eight minutes, firing through Arvydas Veikutis' legs, and although goals in the closing stages from Niclas Pedersen and Martin Christensen secured victory, Lithuania forced them to sweat in between. Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel did well to keep out Dominykas Galkevicius and Davydas Aralauskis, in particular, before Pedersen beat the offside trap to make it 2-0 on 83 minutes. Christensen made the scoreline even more flattering in injury time as Denmark closed within two points of Finland, although the section leaders do have one game in hand; Lithuania remain bottom with a single point from their six games.
