Scotland turned on the style to defeat Slovenia 4-0 in Group 6 and give the senior side a boost before their UEFA EURO 2008™ date with destiny against Italy later on Saturday.
Hamill opener
The visitors were the aggressors from the start at Športni Park in Nova Gorica but had to wait until the 33rd minute to open the scoring through Jamie Hamill. Scotland were much effective in front of goal after the break, and doubled their lead on 51 minutes when Ross McCormack turned the ball in. Steve Naismith made it 3-0 from the penalty spot six minutes later and Steven Fletcher fired past Slovenia goalkeeper Matjez Rozman in the 62nd minute. Slovenia are in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Denmark, while Scotland next meet leaders Finland on 26 March.
