Ukraine keep pace with frontrunners

Slovenia 0-2 Ukraine
First-half goals from Mykola Morozyuk and Yegor Lugachev saw the visitors draw level with Belgium and France at the top of Groip 8.

Ukraine moved level on points with Belgium and France at the top of Group 8 following a 2-0 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualfying victory over Slovenia.

Home mistakes
Pavlo Iakovenko's Ukraine capitalised on two defensive errors. Mykola Morozyuk was the first to profit in the 34th minute, pouncing on a weak Jan Oblak clearance before finishing from an acute angle. Goalkeeper Oblak could again be held accountable for Ukraine's second as he managed to carry Yegor Lugachev's free-kick over his line a minute before half-time. Slovenia, who came closest to scoring when Rene Mihelič's free-kick struck the bar in the second minute, enjoyed a better second half but hopes of a comeback were quashed by the 68th-minute dismissal of Armin Bačinovič. Tomaž Kavčič's men remain second from bottom in the group, five points adrift of the pacesetters after four games.
