Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina miss their cue

Belarus 1-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina
Germany remain on top in Group 1 as goals from Edin Višća and Igor Kuzmenok ensured the points were shared.

Neither side could join Germany at the top of UEFA European Under-21 qualifying Group 1 with first-half goals from Edin Višća and Igor Kuzmenok meaning Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina shared the spoils.

The visitors started the game on the front foot and took the lead inside the opening 15 minutes through Višća. However, Kuzmenok headed Belarus level just two minutes later and neither side were able to find an elusive winning goal after the break.

Buoyed by their opening Group 1 victory against San Marino, Bosnia and Herzegovina made an impressive start with Miroslav Stevanović coming close to his third goal in two matches. Yuri Shukanov's side grew into the contest and had a chance of their own but Mikhail Kravchuk headed Dimitri Khlebosolov's cross narrowly over.

It was the visitors, though, who forged ahead when the lively Stevanović found Višća, who beat Filipp Voytekhovich from inside the penalty area. The hosts hit back almost immediately, Khlebosolov's dangerous free-kick met by the head of Kuzmenok to draw Belarus level.

Vlado Jagodić's charges had the best opportunity to win the game on 67 minutes but, after a scramble in the Belarus area, Muhamed Bešić fired over. Višća's 86th-minute corner was almost turned in by Nemanja Bilbija but defenders were on hand to clear the danger.

Belarus host section leaders Germany on 6 September while Bosnia and Herzegovina are not in action until October, when they also face Rainer Adrion's side.
