Norway got off to the perfect start in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 8 by winning 2-0 in Iceland.

Iceland, who made a winning start to their campaign when then they defeated Belgium 2-1 on Thursday, found themselves behind after 31 minutes in Kopavogur, Joshua King opening the scoring for Per Joar Hansen's charges.

The VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach forward spurned an ideal chance to double his team's tally nine minutes after half-time when he failed to convert from the penalty spot. The visitors nevertheless wrapped up the victory through captain Thomas Rogne three minutes from time.

Iceland resume their campaign on 6 October against England, who in their opener hit six against Azerbaijan, who are next up for Norway the same night.
