A hat-trick from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain helped England ease past Iceland to take them level on points with Norway at the head of Group 8. The Arsenal FC winger did not get on the scoresheet in his country's crushing 6-0 win over Azerbaijan in their opening game but sent a warning to opponents with a fine treble in Rekjavik.

A strong run from Marvin Sordell released the 18-year-old 12 minutes in and he clipped a neat right-footed finish past Arnar Pétursson from the edge of the penalty area. Moments later the Iceland stopper spilled Nathan Delfouenso's left-wing cross at the feet of the goalscorer and he doubled his tally. Thórarinn Valdimarsson and Rúnar Már Sigurjónsson had efforts at goal as Iceland tried to get themselves back into the game but both failed to test goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Four minutes after the interval Oxlade-Chamberlain completed the scoring, a darting run down the right taking him past three defenders and into the area before his powerful shot snuck past Pétursson at the front post. Norway also have two wins from two, and England face them next in Drammen as they seek to take control of the group.
