Denmark cruise past Andorra

Denmark 6-0 Andorra
First-half doubles from Kenneth Zohore and Christoffer Remmer helped the home team make it two Group 2 wins from two.

Denmark made it two wins from two in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying, as they cruised past Andorra in Aalborg.

A first-half onslaught was too much for the visitors to handle as Kenneth Zohore and Christoffer Remmer both struck twice before the break. Nicolai Brock-Madsen and Lucas Andersen rounded off the scoring late on to ensure Jess Thorup's side move level on six points with Russia in Group 2, one back from Bulgaria who have played a game more.

Remmer broke the deadlock on six minutes with a curling shot, and Zohore's first came when he pounced on a loose ball. Zohore then missed an open goal after rounding the kepeer, but soon made amends with a similar chance, and Remmer had time for another prior to the interval.

It could even have been more, but chances were missed before and after half-time, but Brock-Madsen did head a fifth with a minute left. Then to top the night off, local favourite Andersen produced the goal of the game from distance.

Thorup said: "After a good start to our campaign in Estonia knew we were favourites today. It was important we got an early goal and I am fully satisfied with the 6-0 result. We talking before the second half that goal difference could be important in the group and although we did not perfom as well after the break, as we did before, we managed to score two good goals.

"In our group I think Russia are slight favourites for top spot, but Bulgaria also have a very good team although they only drew today against Estonia. It is crucial we manage to get the three points in the so called 'easy' games like today, so we have our fate in our own hands when we meet the other top teams. Our next match on Tuesday in Slovenia will be a difficult one."
