Germany completed their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 6 campaign in dominant fashion as they hit eight past second-placed Romania.

The pattern was set in the first minute, when Yunus Malli got the first, before Philipp Hofmann, Amin Younes and Jonas Hofmann notched before the break. Nico Schulz, Danny da Costa and Niklas Stark piled the misery on the visitors after the interval, before Jonas Hoffman rounded off the scoring a minute from time.

Romania were not given a chance to get into the match as Malli headed in Emre Can's ball before 60 seconds were on the clock, and the lead was doubled when Philipp Hofmann tapped in after wonderful wing play from Jonas Hofmann. On 16 minutes Younes made it three, and Jonas Hofmann completed the first-half scoring on 44 minutes, converting Malli's cross.

There was no let-up after the restart as a solo effort from Schulz made it five, after which it seemed as if the hosts were easing off. That was until the final ten minutes, when Da Costa was left alone in the area to finish past Laurenţiu Brănescu, six minutes before Stark thumped in Moritz Leitner's free-kick with his head. Jonas Hofmann rounded off the scoring, the result ending any hopes that Romania had of qualifying for the play-offs as one of the best group runners-up.
