Women's final match ball goes public

UEFA and adidas have presented the match ball for this season's UEFA Women's Champions League final – the Finale London – during a promotional event at Craven Cottage.

The official match ball for this season's UEFA Women's Champions League final has been presented at Craven Cottage in London.

The Finale London, which is supplied by adidas, was introduced to the football world during a promotional activity at the west London venue for the final on Thursday 26 May – home of English Premier League side Fulham FC.

The match ball will take centre stage when 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and Olympique Lyonnais meet in a repeat of last season's inaugural UEFA Women's Champions League showpiece, in which the German club overcame their French opponents on penalties.

The women's Finale London bears graphics inspired by the UK capital as well as the UEFA Women's Champions League final logo. Additionally, its starball design is enhanced by the striking dark brown and gold colours which provide a strong link to the competition's brand identity.

David Taylor, CEO of UEFA Events SA, said: "Women's football continues to grow in stature and it is now clearly recognised that the UEFA Women's Champions League final is the pinnacle of European club football. It is therefore entirely appropriate that this special occasion is marked with a unique official match ball in a design reflecting the importance of the competition."

As with the men's version of the Finale London, to be used at the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on 28 May, the female equivalent also displays a bright orange star panel at the top of the ball as a reference to the modernity of London.

Alongside its design features, the Finale London comprises the same technology as its men's counterpart, including a homogenous star panel shape for improved flight path and a seamless surface structure for increased boot-to-ball contact.

The adidas Finale London has already been used for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League.
