UEFA has released media details for the final of the 8th UEFA Women's Cup between Russian champions Zvezda-2005 and FCR 2001 Duisburg from Germany – the last matches in the competition before the launch of the new UEFA Women's Champions League in 2009/10.
The first leg will be played on Saturday 16 May at 19.45 local time (17.45 CET) at the Tsentralnyi Stadium in Kazan, with the return leg taking place on Friday 22 May at 19.30 CET at the MSV Arena in Duisburg. Zvezda-2005 qualified for the final by defeating the former champions Umeå IK from Sweden in the semi-finals, while Duisburg beat the French champions Olympique Lyonnais. It is a first final appearance for both clubs. The two matches will be shown live on Eurosport international.
The new UEFA Women's Champions League will culminate in a one-off final played two days before the UEFA Champions League final in the same city. Madrid will host the finals of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Women's Champions League in May 2010.
