The 2011/12 UEFA Women's Champions League will begin with a qualifying group consisting of mini-tournaments leading to a 32-team two-legged knockout competition. That will culminate in the final on Thursday 17 May 2012 in Munich, two days before the men's UEFA Champions League decider in the same city.
Drawn on 23 June 2011, the size of the qualifying round, running from 11 to 16 August, will depend on the number of entries. In principle, the group winners and possibly one or more of the best runners-up will go forward to join all the remaining entrants in the round of 32. The runners-up from the top eight ranked nations will now gain automatic entry to the knockout phase.
The rounds of 32 and 16 will be drawn on 23 August and played in the autumn. The draw for the quarter-finals onward will be made on 17 November with the last eight played in March and semis the following month, leading to the Munich final.
